Blue Striped Shirt

Location: Long Island City, New York / Pepsi Cola Sign

Top: Similar here  / Jeans: Nordstrom Rack   / Bag: Similar here   / Heels: Nine West

One of my favorite trends this past spring and summer was the blue striped shirt trend. It was a complete staple and must have in anyone’s closet this past summer.  The reason this shirt is so perfect is because it can be worn so many different ways. You can wear the shirt casual on the weekend with girlfriends for a brunch, you can wear it to work or you can dress it up as a date night look.

One of the best things is when the classic shirt gets some fun added to it with florals or some fun unique staples to make a classic shirt have some personality. That is usually my personal taste. The flowers on this shirt definitely add a unique touch and was perfect to wear this summer, especially with white denim.

If you are looking to transition your classic blue striped shirt into fall there are so many ways you can transition the look. I love the shirt paired with a darker denim rather than a light or white denim from spring and summer. You can also pair it with classic black pants or jeans. The black with the navy and white is really just such a classic look. I can also see the shirt paired with a dark wine color pant for the holiday season and you can definitely bring this shirt through all of your seasons.

Recently on the blog I showed how I paired a classic blue and white button down shirt from the Who What Wear Collection from Target for Fall. I styled it with red pumps and took those pics in the middle of Time Square (fancy hey?). Although it was technically a different shirt from the one above, it really shows the versatility of a classic blue and white striped shirt.

There are so many shades of blue this shirt style comes in from different retailers and you can really have so much versatility, it is one of those shirts that are staples and you can transition through all the seasons and all the styles throughout the day and week.

Do you own a blue striped shirt in your closet? How do you style and pair it?

Three Ways to Wear a Shirt Dress

shirtdress shirtdress One of my favorite trends is a shirt-dress. The reason I love wearing a shirt dress is because you can style it so many different ways, therefore you are getting a lot of wear out of your outfit and you are getting more value of your outfit.

The shirt-dress I am wearing is from H&M and was great steel at under $20. I was able to style it three different ways.

The first way I styled this shirt-dress is a casual look with a great denim jacket and casual sneakers. If you are in school, this is a great back to school outfit, the dress is very comfy yet stylish, so when you are sitting in school you are comfortable but casual. The sneakers I am wearing are one of my favorite. They are Sperry and I got them from DSW a few years ago, but they are my ultimate favorite and the fact that they are still sold says a lot. The sneakers are really casual, they go with so many outfits and are really comfortable.

The second way I styled this shirt-dress is business casual. I paired a LOFT sweater over the dress and wore my Tommy Hilfiger wedges with the dress. I also am wearing my vintage Gucci bag (thanks mom!). It is a perfect casual work wear outfit.

For an after work look, I styled the dress with black heels and a black leather clutch. This is perfect for a date night look as well. I love how versatile this dress is and how much value you get. Halo Bassinet Review

halobassinet  halobassinet   halobassinet

Bassinet: Halo Bassinet   / Robe: similar here / Romper Pajama: Target / Aria PJ: sold out similar here  / Bed frame: here  / Side Table: similar here

Today I am so excited to talk to you guys about one of my favorite baby products, the halo bassinet. We just retired our halo bassinet as Aria is now 6 months old (time is flying!) and is rolling and going on all fours and is pretty much ready to crawl. But now that she is getting bigger and is full time in her crib and in her own room, I wanted to talk about the halo bassinet before mom brain takes over and it is a distant memory.

I did not use the halo bassinet with Lucas when he was a newborn, but I learned that I really needed to use the halo bassinet because of its distinct features which is why I purchased it when I found out I was having baby number 2. The halo bassinet I purchased is the basic one without the vibration or melody attached. I didn’t purchase that one because I had those options with Lucas when we used our pack and play with him (as a bassinet when he was a newborn) and it never really helped with soothing but every baby is different and I know moms who say those features do help.

One of my favorite features of the halo bassinet is that it can be changed in height to match the height of your bed. This is a big selling feature as I was looking at the co-sleeper as another option, but I would need extensions because our bed is so high and I was nervous it wouldn’t be as sturdy. The halo bassinet has a really sturdy base and the height can be changed very easily.

I had the bassinet directly next to my bed and the arm closest to the bed can be pushed down easily to pick the baby up and down. It can also be locked if you need it to be. This was great because during the day I would lock it so Lucas couldn’t pull it down and get to the baby; but I unlocked it at night when it was easy for me to pick up Aria. This feature is also great because it makes breastfeeding so easy as I can easily get to the baby without even getting out of bed (can I get an Amen, because at a 3:00 a.m. feeding this is crucial).

I love that the baby can be very close to me, but they are still in their own safe sleeping vicinity. I love the idea of traditional co-sleeping, but this option is the best for us and is a very good alternative because the baby is still very close. During those early days newborns wake up often to eat, and as much ease and convenience that you can get is wonderful. The halo bassinet also surrounds the baby with a mesh panel so it is easy for them to breathe and for you to hear them and see them.

I have to say that the halo bassinet made things a lot easier during those first few weeks with a newborn and I am so glad I made the purchase.

My Favorite Back to School Outfit

School has been in session for a few weeks now, and I am sharing one of my favorite back to school outfits. I often go to the library to do my blog posts and get some focus on my content. I usually see a lot of students at the library, and all I have to say is when you are working or studying for long hours, and need to be focused, you want to be comfortable. I am usually dressed my most comfortable when I go to the library (thank you for the relaxed dress code) because I am usually there for eight hours (or more).

When you are a student you will want to dress the most comfortable because you have to walk around campus, walk from class to class, sit for long hours and maybe spend the entire day at school. This also doesn’t include any library time to study and of course commuting if you aren’t living on campus. With all that, comfort has to be essential.

One of my favorite comfortable outfits for back to school is definitely a t-shirt dress. I love this dress because it is under $20, it is so comfortable and stylish. The pinkish maroon color is perfect for the upcoming fall season and is a perfect transitioning dress from summer to fall.

When the temperatures start to drop you can also wear this t-shirt dress with a nice pair of leggings and style with some mules or boots. When you are running around campus, in between classes and studying long hours this is the perfect dress to be comfortable and yet stylish. You will also get a lot of wear because you can wear it on the weekends for errands or brunch.

Are you planning on wearing the t-shirt dress trend this fall? How do you style?

Custo Barcelona Fashion Show

cutsobarcelonafashionshow  cutsobarcelonafashionshow

I was so excited to attend the Spring / Summer 2018 Custo Barcelona Fashion Show last week for New York Fashion Week. It was so much fun and the energy was amazing. The pieces were hip, trendy, and lavish street wear trend.

When I went to Spain a few years ago I actually purchased a blazer from Custo Barcelona on that trip.  I still have it in my closet, it is so funky and cool and completely different than the style here in the states. That’s why I fell in love with the blazer.

If you know the Custo Barcelona style it is funky, cool, trendy and over the top. Whenever I wore the blazer I purchased from Custo Barcelona, I got so many compliments and was definitely seen as a trend setter wearing their clothing. In general, the fashion in Europe is honestly amazing, they usually like to take risks and be fashion leaders.

Back to the the fashion show – the show had a lot of energy, great music (think trendy techno Europe beach music) and was very energetic. If you follow me on Instagram, then you saw some behind the scenes on Insta Story of the show and it did not disappoint. The designs were amazing, and it made me want to book a flight back to Europe for next summer because some of these dresses screamed Ibiza, Mykonos and St. Tropez.

After the show my friend Lisa and I got a glass of rosé at the bar of Pier 59 at Chelsea Piers. There were some amazing views of New York City and we couldn’t resist taking a few pictures. New York Fashion Week is one of my favorite times in the city and it did not disappoint. I loved attending these past New York Fashion week events (here and here) and it is always amazing, energetic and of course, the fashion is always beautiful.

Below are some of my favorite pieces from the Custo Barcelona fashion show.

Gingham Trend: How to Style

gingham_fashion_1 gingham_fashion_3 gingham_fashion_4

Gingham is a popular fashion trend right now. When I walked into H&M a few weeks ago I saw quite a few gingham printed outfits so the trend is here to stay for Fall. I fell in love with this gingham top because it is perfect for everyday casual wear and is under $30.

I paired this top with my favorite new H&M jeans that have been fitting like a dream. Since this is more of a casual top, I paired it with one of my favorite sneakers and it is perfect for weekend wear running errands, grabbing lunch with your girlfriends or a perfect back to school outfit. Easy to style tops are perfect if you are busy and in a hurry.

If you wanted to style this top for night I can see it with some black jeans and black leather heels. You can easily transform this top to more trendy evening wear and it is quick and easy.

Have you purchased any gingham items this season? What are your thoughts on the trend? Leave a comment below.

usopen2017 usopen2017

The US Open 2017 starts today and is one of the biggest tennis tournaments of the year. I am so excited. I grew up in Flushing Queens so we have always been really excited for this tennis tournament every year and usually attend the pre matches.

The US Open is held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows Park, New York and will be held starting today, August 28, through September 10. The US Open is known for bringing together the world’s best tennis players along with great food, kids’ activities and musical performances. People all over the world travel to attend the US Open. Having attended the pre-matches in the past, it is always a packed and fun event.

Below are some US Open tips of you are attending this year:

1. Arrive early and pack light

If you are attending the US Open, morning matches usually start around 11:00 a.m. but gates open at 10:00 a.m. Remember to pack lightly so you can get through security quickly and easily.

US Open tip: the east and south gates are usually the quickest to go through.

The US Open is also known for its fantastic food and drinks. Once you are ready for lunch you can go to the Food Village for a quick bite to eat. That is where we ate and the fish tacos are amazing. Who What Wear Collection: Target

whatwhatwear whowhatwearfallcollectiontarget whowhatwearfallcollectiontarget

Today I am sharing one of my favorite blouses from the Who What Wear Fall collection at Target. I was looking for a great statement blouse to add to my wardrobe and this blouse caught me eye the instant I walked into Target. I love chic pieces at affordable prices (who doesn’t?). One of my favorite looks this summer was the white and blue striped shirt trend, and I love how this blouse continues that trend but transitions perfectly into fall. The ruffles are prefect, sometimes you can find items that have too much ruffle but this one was perfect. I am seeing a lot of ruffles for Fall, so this piece would be perfect to add to your wardrobe.

I paired the blouse with denim and some black heels I purchased from DSW warehouse last year. This is a perfect casual Friday look at the office, drinks with girlfriends or date night look. I also did this shoot in Time Square and it was so much fun to be with such a great crowd. I usually do my shoots in simple places (basic walls, alleys, etc…) and I loved wearing this outfit in such a lively place because this top is so chic!

What do you think of the Who What Wear Fall Collection? Are you planning on wearing ruffles this Fall?

Perfect Cardigan for Summer

Sweater: sold out similar here and here / Jeans: Gap / Bag: Liz Claiborne / Shoes: DSW Warehouse

I am in love with a perfect summer cardigan. This one in particular is great. I love the color, it is lightweight so it isn’t too warm but keeps you warm on those cool summer nights. I love it paired with a basic white tank, as I am wearing in the picture, but I can see it with a blank tank and shorts and some perfect mules.

We are getting ready for the weekend here. We are painting the dining room, exciting stuff and heading to the beach. What are your weekend plans?

We are trying to plan out the last few weeks of summer. We can’t wait. Lucas camp ends next week so I will have about 4 weeks of toddler and newborn time so we have to plan some fun stuff. Any suggestions for some fun stuff to do with kids, from my NYC / LI folks?
