Halloween Party & Pumpkin Painting

DSC01669 DSC01672 pumpkins_2 iphone pic DSC01679_2 DSC01720

This past Saturday we hosted a mini Halloween Party and we painted pumpkins (the clean up is a lot easier painting than carving haha) and then went to a Jack O’ Lantern Blaze.

I am in a huge Betty Crocker / DIY phase lately. So we made all of the food for the Halloween party.

Below are some of our recipes:

  1. Mummy Dog
  2. Guacamole with “Brains” dip
  3. Ghost covered strawberries
  4. Spider Pizza

Lucas was a lion, I was a leopard, Tina was a lion & James was the safari ranger. We are repeating costumes this Saturday, but I am planning on wearing my hair super curly and I have been watching a ton of YouTube videos for Leopard makeup. Since I cooked this past Saturday I did not have a lot of time between, baby, cleaning house, cooking AND then Halloween makeup. It was the best I could do. Plus Lucas is in a very “I need everything Mommy is holding” mood lately, so when I do makeup he is always wanting me to pick him up or to give him my makeup brushes.

This Saturday we are going to the local Halloween parade and my husband’s nieces are coming by. I am so happy Lucas gets to celebrate this Halloween with his cousins.

Will post a lot better pictures next week, hopefully!!

What are your costumes for Halloween? I kind of want to do the sugar skull makeup, but then I will be totally separate from the rest of the family.

Our second day in Montauk was really relaxing. I wasn’t even planning on posting these pictures but it was such a beautiful day and we ended up taking pictures walking around the resort so I decided to share. Gurneys is so amazing. It is huge, and during the summer must be so busy and so relaxing at the same time. It is right on the water which is breathtaking.

We had the breakfast buffet at Gurneys and had such a delicious omelette. After breakfast we checked out, then we did a little outlet shopping and then headed back home to spend the rest of the night with Lucas. We were going to go to the lighthouse but James & I have both been on past visits and we wanted to head back home to make it in time before Lucas went to bed. Such parents now haha :)!!

Hope everyone is getting ready for the weekend. Any cool costumes planned? Lucas is going to be a lion and I keep going back & forth between leopard or sugar skull.

Hey guys! This past Sunday we went to Williamsburg to visit my grandparents. They have lived in Williamsburg way before Williamsburg became what it is today. I grew up in that neighborhood and love coming back and visiting my family. One of the things we try and take advantage of, depending on our trip, is some of the cool restaurants & that gorgeous view of Manhattan. We wanted our Sunday to be low key, so we went to Vanessa’s Dumplings on Bedford Ave, so good and so cheap!!! We got the pork & vegetable dumplings and split the duck sesame sandwich. We bought some over to my grandparents and visited. Before we went back home, we took some time walking around by the river and took some quick pictures before heading back home. It is full on Fall weather and I am loving it. What is everyone going to be for Halloween next weekend??

Printed Navy Dress

Dress: Target / Booties: Jessica Simpson   / Stockings: Macys

Hi Guys! Yesterday, I posted about this teal coat that I love and so many cute similar styles. Well the dress I wore underneath the coat, is such a good find. I ordered it online from Target, it was a bit big so I would order a size down. It is really comfortable & super cute. I wanted to look really cute for our date night in Montauk, but wanted to be comfortable at the same time which this dress allowed. I loved the open shoulder look and if I had more time to get ready before our date night I would have done a really cute hairstyle up so you can really see the open shoulders and make that feature pop. By the way, I am not a big stockings girl but if it is cold and I have to wear them I ONLY wear the ones I linked to. I love them, they make the legs look amazing and are so soft. Hope everyone is having a wonderful Tuesday.

Dress: Target / Coat: Discontinued. However found so many similar cute ones below.

  1. Loving this one right now, such a splurge – here
  2. Super chic – here
  3. A little bit of a darker teal, but cute – here
  4. Teal aviator jacket – here
  5. Parka, had a ton of styles to choose from in teal colors, for the winter – here

I am reminiscing about our weekend getaway last weekend to Montauk. We stayed at Gurneys and it was amazing. Right on the water and so beautiful and relaxing. It was a nice getaway, our first without Lucas, but a fun one night trip just James & I. Gurneys had so much fun stuff going on like an ice skating rink, an amazing spa, wonderful restaurants and of course a wedding was going on – black tie and everyone looked amazing!

We took some pictures before dinner and I did not expect to take pictures of this jacket. It is actually old, and isn’t made anymore but it is really one of my favorites. I wear it all Fall. I linked to some similar ones above and one I would love to purchase but is too much of a splurge right now (maybe a christmas gift from the hubs??). One of my favorite colors is teal, which is why I think I love this coat so much.

Weekend Getaway

This past weekend we decided to do a weekend getaway to Monatuk. We stopped at Macari wines on the way, which is one of my favorite wineries on the north fork. My favorite wine is the chardonnay “early wine”  but to tell you the truth all their wines are delicious. It was a nice getaway and our first where my husband and I both left Lucas overnight. We missed our big boy, but it was a nice little getaway. It is so different when you don’t have to follow a baby’s schedule and you can kind of do things as you want. After the wineries we did a quick stop at an apple picking field, there we tried apple cider donuts for the first time. OMG!! They were delicious and life changing. I am still craving them.

This past weekend we went pumpkin picking at Queens Farm. It was so much fun. First we went through the corn maze there. It is pretty challenging but we were able to do in about 30 minutes. Lucas came along for the ride as well, but he loved looking at all the corn around us. We got to the farm early, around 12, and it was a lot less crowded than last year when we got there at 3. If you have kiddos, 12 is the best time. After the corn maze we walked around a bit, ate some lunch and then did some pumpkin picking. We are carving pumpkins in a few weeks with my family, its a tradition we do every year. It was such a beautiful Fall day. I didn’t get to have any apple cider donuts, but that is on my list before Fall ends.
