Dress: Target under $10! / Jacket: White House Black Market similar here and here / Booties: Jessica Simpson old but similar here
I can’t believe we will be welcoming our baby girl in a short few weeks. I am in complete nesting mode and our crib arrived this morning, it is starting to feel so real. One thing that has been challenging as of late has been dressing this bump and I am talking today all about maternity style. Once you get to the end, it is pretty hard to hide the bump and you just have to embrace it. The green dress I am wearing in the photos above is from Target and it is so soft and comfy. It is non maternity but since it is a stretchy sweater dress it works over a bump and I am wearing a large for sizing the belly. My black coat is an oldie but a goodie from White House Black Market. One thing that I have been doing lately is wearing a lot of cardigans, long sweaters, and coats to hide the overall growing size of the bump towards the end. There is a growing baby in there and there is no hiding it :).
Below are some tips on my maternity style throughout the pregnancy:
In the first trimester I wasn’t showing so it was easy to continue wearing my every day style and clothing. Although I felt really sick this pregnancy in the first trimester, all I wanted to do was lay in bed, but I didn’t start wearing maternity jeans until the second trimester.
The second trimester I was able to get away with maternity jeans and size medium tops or dresses that were just regular women’s clothing. I don’t really go full force into maternity style until the third trimester when everything is growing so fast and you are getting really big – the baby grows the most in the final trimester.
The third trimester is the hardest to keep your style as you start to have limited choices. I am consistently wearing maternity jeans and clothing, although I do try my hardest to get away with regular women’s clothing in a size large if I can. This is when I am really focusing on my maternity style and what that means. Sometimes regular women’s clothing “fits” but the way it “fits” just isn’t right and you are better off with maternity clothing and should really think how to stay true to your style. In this stage I wear the long cardigans, oversized sweaters, statement coats, etc… All black is your best friend especially if you can add statement jewelry or shoes, that is a great way to look slim but stylish. If it is the summer then maxi dresses are really the way to go. I wore so many dresses with Lucas and I was able to keep my style.
