Spring Sweater

Sweater:  Gap sold out, similar here and here / Jeans: Gap Maternity, non maternity here / Boots:  Steve Madden / Bag: Urban Outfitters

Sharing today my favorite spring sweater. I love purple so much and this sweater is so warm and cozy. Spring in New York means mild temperatures, think 50 degrees, and this sweater is so perfect for those mild spring temperatures. This sweater is from gap and under $100. It is maternity but I am also linking to non maternity sweaters as well. The lavender is also the perfect shade and compliments so well. My sweater has sold out but I linked to similar ones above. I also can’t believe these pictures were taken when I was pregnant. It is so amazing how the time flew.

Lace Spring Dress – Maternity Shoot

spring lace embroidered dress spring lace embroidered dress spring lace embroidered dress

Dress: Forever21   / Shoes: Jessica Simpson   / Headwreath: Custom made by my mom 🙂

Sharing a few pictures from my maternity shoot I did almost 2 months ago with this gorgeous lace spring dress. I love lace so much, it is literally my favorite. I want to wear lace all spring because it is so feminine and girly and exactly how I am. This dress is non maternity, and under $50 from Forever21. It is such a steal. Forever21 has really been having so many looks I am loving lately and such affordable fashion. I am going to get ready to do a big spring shoot all non maternity clothes (yay!), and can’t wait to share with you guys what I end up finding.

I can’t believe it has been almost 2 months since my maternity shoot and that my pregnancy is over. Aria is such a dream, she just eats, sleeps and poops haha. I didn’t get around to doing a bump update while I was pregnant, so below is a list of a few questions I was asked during my pregnancy to share with you guys.

Pregnancy FAQ:

  1. How much weight did I gain? 35 pounds
  2. Did I get any stretch marks? Nope and I only got them on my boobs with Lucas during the first trimester. With Lucas I used Bio oil to prevent stretch marks and with Aria I used this organic butter stretch mark I ordered off Amazon. The Bio oil worked great but I was so sensitive to smell with Aria I had to find something that had less smell.
  3. Did I get any morning sickness? Yes a ton, I lost 7 pounds in the first trimester and the morning sickness really didn’t go away until 16 or 18 weeks. I did end up having a girl and she had a full head of hair. So maybe the old wives tales are true?
  4. Did I get swollen feet or legs? Nope, not with either pregnancy.
  5. When did I start wearing maternity clothes in my pregnancy? Around 13 weeks I went into maternity jeans because they are so comfy. I never really liked the belly bandit for maternity jeans for me. For the other clothes I really tried hard to size up in non maternity clothes.
  6. Did I get heartburn with my pregnancies? I did with both, but it was a lot worse with Aria I had to really stay strict with what I ate, portion sizes, time of day or had to rely on tums to help a girl out.
  7. Did I face more mood swings or was I more emotional? Both, definitely a lot of mood swings, more than with Lucas and I am always pretty emotional but I was a bit more with this pregnancy.
  8. When did I start to show? I started to show sometime in the second trimester. I wasn’t “larger” the second time around, I was actually smaller I am not sure if it was because I was carrying a girl.
  9. When did I share the news? We usually share the news around the 12 weeks mark and try and get everyone informed by 20 weeks. We are superstitious so we like to wait until we are more into the pregnancy to share the news.
  10. Are you nursing? Yes, I nursed Lucas and I am nursing Aria. My boobs are huge!!

Sweater: Target  / Jeans: Gap   / Sneakers: Nike

Today I am sharing my favorite Athleisure look. Athleisure has really been my go to for comfortability lately, especially while I was pregnant. Running around with a good pair of sneakers (I usually wear Nike) is really key, it helped with my lower back pain a lot and keeping my balance. I paired this super soft and comfy Target sweater with some jeans, sneakers and I am ready to head out the door. It is so easy and stylish and I am able to run mom errands all day long. I also did a post last year on Ahtleisure and wore leggings with my look. You can really style the athleisure look as detailed or laid back as you like.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful day xoxo.

Valentine’s Day

Dress: Free People / Shoes: DSW   / Turtleneck: Target  / Coat: Old similar here and here

I hope everyone had a great weekend. We explored Manhattan on Saturday and we got a mini snow storm on Sunday. We also started to get ready for Valentine’s Day this week. I got my beautiful red roses which I love because I get to appreciate them longer. We also planned our Valentine’s Day dinner menu, we always do a quiet dinner at home every year. We are having chilean sea bass and bacon wrapped scallops and non-alcoholic champagne.

Since I am due in a few short weeks we are taking it easy on the weekends and trying to finish getting ready for baby girl. I am sharing this fun Free People dress today. It is non-maternity but bump friendly. It is velvet material and so soft, the color really pops especially with an all black turtleneck. When we took these pictures we were so surprised at how amazing the color really looked. It also comes in Navy Blue and is definitely a win and is currently on sale for under $100. I can see transitioning this dress into Spring with a lace cami underneath instead of a turtleneck to cooperate with the warmer weather to come.

What are your Valentine’s Day plans? Do you prefer to wear traditional red on Valentine’s Day or something different such as black, pink or a pop of color on Valentine’s Day? Do you go out or stay in or celebrate with the girls?

Spring Suede Jacket

Jacket: Nordstrom Rack   Shirt: Nordstrom Rack, similar here and here at a higher price point Jeans:  Gap  Bag: old similar here Boots: Old similar here

I am loving this spring suede jacket. I am wearing it in Olive, but it also comes in grey and tan and I am loving those colors as well.  It is on sale for under $30 from Nordstrom rack and is such a steal. It is perfect for spring when the temperature starts to warm up. I also love pairing it with a nude chiffon top, also from Nordstrom rack, I linked to a few similar as the one I bought in September is sold out.

Looking at these pictures makes me realize how much bigger baby girl is getting, a few short weeks we get to meet her and I am so excited. We are setting up the crib this weekend and the bedding has been ordered. I am just ordering the lighting for her nursery. I can’t wait! Once she is here we will do a blog post on her nursery, which  I am hoping will come out perfectly.

Oversized Sweaters

Sweater: Forever21 / Jeans:  Gap  / Boots: Old similar here / Bag: old similar here
I am loving oversized sweaters lately. It is part of my current maternity style, which of course also includes duster cardigans as I mentioned in yesterday’s post. Oversized sweaters are just so cozy and are a perfect maternity piece. If you aren’t expecting is is such a great winter piece. We only have a few more short weeks until Spring arrives and I am so excited!

I am wearing a Forever21 basic grey sweater and you really can’t go wrong with grey and black. Surprisingly, I am wearing a size medium. I love that I can get away with basic clothing at a larger  size, it is really helping keep my style trendy. However, with a few more weeks to go I have been wearing more standard maternity clothing.

I am really loving all of Forever21 clothes lately. They are so affordable and are really trendy and up to date with style. There are so many spring styles I love and I can’t wait until the spring when I can wear them after baby.

Duster Cardigan

Duster Cardigan: Forever21  / Jeans:  Gap  / Turtleneck: Target  / Boots: Old similar here / Bag: old similar here  / Sunglasses: Target

I am so in love with the duster cardigan trend. It adds so much to an outfit and if you pick a statement piece it can bring your entire outfit to a whole new level. I am wearing simple black jeans and a black turtleneck and this piece really brings the outfit to life. Not to mention when you are really showing in your pregnancy, it hides the bump more and any areas that need some hiding. For all of my mamas out there, you know what I am talking about. I had such a fun time shooting this look with my girl, Arazelly. She is such an amazing photographer. We shot in the Lower East Side of Manhattan and there were so many cool opportunities and great photography spots. We shot this look at Mr. Purple and I can’t wait to go back.

My Maternity Style

Dress: Target under $10! / Jacket: White House Black Market similar here and here / Booties: Jessica Simpson old but similar here

I can’t believe we will be welcoming our baby girl in a short few weeks. I am in complete nesting mode and our crib arrived this morning, it is starting to feel so real. One thing that has been challenging as of late has been dressing this bump and I am talking today all about maternity style. Once you get to the end, it is pretty hard to hide the bump and you just have to embrace it. The green dress I am wearing in the photos above is from Target and it is so soft and comfy. It is non maternity but since it is a stretchy sweater dress it works over a bump and I am wearing a large for sizing the belly. My black coat is an oldie but a goodie from White House Black Market. One thing that I have been doing lately is wearing a lot of cardigans, long sweaters, and coats to hide the overall growing size of the bump towards the end. There is a growing baby in there and there is no hiding it :).

Below are some tips on my maternity style throughout the pregnancy:

In the first trimester I wasn’t showing so it was easy to continue wearing my every day style and clothing. Although I felt really sick this pregnancy in the first trimester, all I wanted to do was lay in bed, but I didn’t start wearing maternity jeans until the second trimester.

The second trimester I was able to get away with maternity jeans and size medium tops or dresses that were just  regular women’s clothing. I don’t really go full force into maternity style until the third trimester when everything is growing so fast and you are getting really big – the baby grows the most in the final trimester.

The third trimester is the hardest to keep your style as you start to have limited choices. I am consistently wearing maternity jeans and clothing, although I do try my hardest to get away with regular women’s clothing in a size large if I can. This is when I am really focusing on my maternity style and what that means. Sometimes regular women’s clothing “fits” but the way it “fits” just isn’t right and you are better off with maternity clothing and should really think how to stay true to your style. In this stage I wear the long cardigans, oversized sweaters, statement coats, etc… All black is your best friend especially if you can add statement jewelry or shoes, that is a great way to look slim but stylish. If it is the summer then maxi dresses are really the way to go. I wore so many dresses with Lucas and I was able to keep my  style.

New Year – 2017

Leggings: Motherhood Maternity / Top: Express / Blazer: H&M / Clutch: Coach

Happy New Year!!! I hope everyone had a fantastic New Year and got to celebrate with loved ones. We stayed home quiet this year as we have done for the last several years. With a two year old and a baby on the way, staying home and relaxing makes the most sense and is greatly welcome.

I usually set goals for the new year every year and I have been in the process of trying to decide which goals to set for 2017. I usually make top goals and subgoals and trying to decide which ones I am really going to make myself accountable for this year and stick to them! Do you make any goals? How do you keep track of accomplishing them? I usually make a visualization board to keep focus and spreadsheets I keep on the computer. I love checking back on them.

There were so many changes in 2016, I am welcoming 2017 with open arms, but 2017 will have a lot more changes with baby number 2’s arrival in March. Which of course is my first and number one goal, to have a healthy little girl this year. We are so excited and are really going to focus on her arrival now that we are in countdown mode. I will start sharing pregnancy updates on the blog soon as well.

I of course want to make goals for my fashion blog / career, and probably after baby get back into shape. I think I will share my official 2017 goal list at the end of this month once I finalize for myself on what I am going to really work on this year. I can also share my spreadsheets and techniques I use. What goals are you setting for 2017?

Sweater: Sold out similar here  and 50% off / Jeans: maternity but non maternity here / Boots: Marc Fisher / Bag: H&M

As I am starting to progress further into my pregnancy, I am so grateful for sweater weather because it makes dressing your bump easier. These pictures were taken a few weeks ago when it was – 20 degrees- and we were freezing taking these shots, but I love this sweater and had to share. The sweater is from Express and is sold out but I linked to a similar one. Express is also having a 50% off sale, and I am going to grab some really great sweaters at a fraction of the price once this post goes live!

I am loving this open cold sweater trend right now and it is so easy to pair with jeans or leggings. And of course I am really in love with these Marc Fischer boots, I am loving his brand, shoes and quality and I am looking to purchase a few more. I hope everyone is getting ready for the holidays this week, Christmas shopping is complete here and we are already starting to hand out our gifts. If you missed it, I posted a holiday gift guide here for any last minute shoppers.
