Chair: Pottery Barn Kids

Hi guys!! I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day. I am so lucky it was my second Mother’s Day to the most wonderful angel. We had swim class Sunday morning, which Lucas is doing great in, and then James made a huge breakfast when we got home. We made my favorite from Denny’s, moons over my hammy. Then I read a few chapters in the new book I am reading “The Girl on the Train” and then we did some shopping. Busy Mother’s Day! We celebrated with our family Friday and Saturday night, so it was great to have the full day for just us.

I am sharing some photos we took a few months ago when it was so cold and we couldn’t do outdoor pictures, but we had such a fun time shooting this. We love this new chair for Lucas, we got it from Pottery Barn Kids and it is so cute. We saw our nieces have a similar chair when they were Lucas age and they loved it. Lucas sometimes watches his Disney movies in the chair, or uses it to hide behind when we play hide and seek. He is literally the cutest baby and it is so amazing how they grow so fast, he doesn’t even fit in this outfit anymore. They grow so fast!

Jacket:  Target / Jeans: Banana Republic / Sunglasses: Ray Ban

Yesterday I spoke about my fashion shoot at the Brooklyn Bridge, today I am bringing you to Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Williamsburg has a special place in my heart because it is the part of Brooklyn I grew up in, went to school and got married in. And those views!!!

I just got this new target jacket on clearance, it is perfect for transitioning into spring. I love the print, it is perfect for Williamsburg and the hipster scene that is there. It is so fun and you can wear it with a lot of different styles. I am wearing it with denim jeans but I can also see it worn with white jeans to bring in that spring look. I also love that this jacket ties very easily and I can throw it on when it starts to get chilly. There are a ton of great Target finds, and shopping at Target is becoming one of my favorite places to shop for clothes. Especially deals and steals. Where is your favorite place to shop for budget friendly pieces?

Sharing a spring fashion look I did a few weeks ago with my friend Arazelly  at the Brooklyn Bridge. I wore this look on Easter weekend but did a mini shoot with her for fun to officially shoot this look.

Arazelly is such a great photographer (as you can see from the pics) and as I am getting more into photography and this fashion blog thing, thought we would do a fun mini shoot by the bridge. If you haven’t been there is so much to do by Brooklyn Bridge Park. There is Grimaldi’s pizza, Jane’s Carousel, the park has so many activities itself especially in the summer like the kids water lab, soccer fields, walking and biking paths, etc…I also love walking in downtown Brooklyn near all the shops. If you are ever in NYC don’t miss going to Brooklyn and of course walking the Brooklyn Bridge (so beautiful!).

This past weekend we celebrated my husband’s 33rd Birthday with friends and family with a small BBQ at our house. It is finally getting warm and beautiful here in NYC and I am so excited for this weather. It is making me plan and book all of our summer trips. Do you guys have any great summer plans??

Shades of Grey

Spring fashion does not have to be all about bright colors, today I am showing you a spring look in a light grey look. I wore this look on Easter Sunday, I previously showed you my Easter Saturday outfit (we celebrate Saturday with my in laws and Sunday with my family). Easter Sunday was a lot colder than I was expecting and I was originally going to wear this pink dress, but it was freezing so it was tights and a sweater, but I love that although I dressed a bit darker the print was full on spring. I also tried to do a quick braid tutorial. I am not the best at braiding, but I gave it a try. Hey, they say practice makes perfect so this was my first try. This weekend it will be nice and warm, it is my husbands Birthday so we will be celebrating and the celebration begins with a nice dinner tomorrow! Can’t wait!

Festival season is upon us and that means festival season fashion is going to be all the rage. My favorite part about festival season fashion is how creative you can get with your style. This includes bright colors, fun prints, unique sunglasses, cut off shorts and fun jewelry. It is a time you can have your personality really stand out. I  am not going to Coachella this weekend, but I do have a few concerts to attend in NYC this summer and I love how you can dress so fun for the occasion.

I wanted to share with you a fun Kimono I got from Forever21. I love Forever21 because you can find so many trendy items for such a great budget friendly price. I have worn this Kimono quite a few times including to Epcot when we went to Disney World in February. I love the fringe and the bright colors of this Kimono. I can see it being worn with shorts, some gladiator sandals and a fun hat if you are planning on hitting any of the festivals this year. Are you going to any festivals or concerts this season? What are you wearing to them?

Fitness Inspiration

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend. I thought I would start off this week with a fitness inspiration board. In the fitness world they say “never miss a Monday” and boy is that true. I have fallen a bit off the workout bandwagon and I am ready to get back into it. To keep my motivation going I thought I would post this fashion inspired workout gear collage.

I am really in love with Nike Air Max right now and I really love fitness clothes that break out of the typical all black ensemble. Especially since spring is here.

I am restarting Insanity this week. I have been trying to do the full program on and off for some time now but I am ready to fully commit to the full 60 days and transform my body. I have been on such a personal weight journey, especially since I had Lucas, shedding the post baby pounds was not easy, and I am ready to be in the best shape of my life. It is actually one of my really big goals for 2016 so I need to make sure I reach them, because girlllllll we have goals to meet!

I did Insanity a few years ago, and I was literally in the best shape ever. The muscle you put on from this program is insane. So wish me luck! In addition to my Insanity workouts,  I will be adding in cardio a few days a week, but insanity will be my main workout. I am also thinking of Vlogging on my YouTube channel this whole process for the next 60 days to really make myself accountable. I already meal prepped for the week and if you guys are interested I can post what I eat and my progress over the next few weeks. I am so excited for this week to begin!

How to be a Savvy Shopper

How to be a Savvy Shopper

I get this question so much from my girlfriends, how to be a savvy shopper? What is a savvy shopper? Luxury on a budget.

How do I buy so many items at discounted prices? My style looks expensive, but it really is budget friendly. Today I am going talk to you about a few guidelines I always use when buying clothes, shoes, jewelry etc… You can use these tips for a lot of other purchase types too (furniture, home décor, makeup, etc…)

1. Shop online
A lot of people are surprised by this, but 90% of my shopping is online. Online stores have the best deals. Sometimes online websites run 50% off specials online (i.e. Loft) and there is usually a larger selection with department stores online rather than in store, and you can easily “shop around”.

Make sure to always check the return policy when shopping online, as you are more likely to return the item without seeing it or trying it on first.

Below are some of my favorite places to shop online:
Macy’s
Old Navy
Target
Nordstrom

2. Never buy anything at full price
Always use coupons & wait for sales. This is a lesson I learned when I used to watch Suzie Orman. She said every single thing you buy should be at the sale price and this has helped me save so much money.

Macy’s always has sales, and I will always wait for a sale vs. buying it at full price. Holiday sales are really great too. I also use this mentality for other purchases such as home furniture and even buying a car. Everything always at the sale price!

In addition to sales, utilizing coupons is also great; you can find them online before buying a product. And don’t ignore the coupons that come through the mail either. Great ways to save on everyday items as well.

Amazon is also a great resource, I find makeup, cell phone cases and buy used books here (or order books from the library).

Coupon resources:
www.amazon.com
www.retailmenot.com
www.groupon.com
www.livingsocial.com

3. Shop outlets
I don’t utilize this enough, but shopping at Nordstrom Rack, Marshalls, Banana Republic outlet stores, etc…gets you the same style and brand but at a budget friendly price.

I love that Marshall has name brand handbags for 50% the original price and Nordstrom rack has great wear to work dresses for such amazing prices (the other day I saw Calvin Klein dresses for $30). I don’t live as close to a huge outlet shopping center as I would like, but when I do go, I feel like I won the jackpot. If you can utilize this, it is great! Also, some factory / outlet stores also have websites and you can purchase these items online without having to go to a store. Remember to check the return policy!

4. Budget friendly stores
H&M, Zara, Forever21
These are my favorite. These are my go to when I want to wear whatever is trendy & hip but I do not want to spend a lot of money. I also love the jewelry, handbag, & sunglasses from these stores. They are really great for shopping the latest trend at a low price.

Hope you found this article helpful! How are you a savvy shopper? Let me know in the comments below, I love good shopping tips!

Scarf: H&M / Jeans: Banana Republic / Denim Shirt: old similar here / Trench Coat: similar here / Shoes: Nine West

I love spring scarves. They are so light weight, they come in so many fun spring prints to spice up your wardrobe and keep you warm on those chilly spring days without making you too hot. There are so many fun spring accessories but this one is one of my favorite. You can wear spring scarves with a dress, denim on denim, with a spring trench coat, and even with leggings or after working out to spice up your casual outfit. I have styled spring scarves in so many different styles and they have all looked wonderful. I hope you are adding spring scarves to your wardrobe, I feel it is a must! If you need any advice on how to transition your wardrobe to spring, read my article here. Now all we need is the spring weather to come and stay in New York!

Let me know in the comments below how you style spring scarves xoxo.

Spring Fashion – How to Transition Your Wardrobe

spring fashion spring fashion

Kimono: Forever 21 / Jeans: Banana Republic / Shoes: similar here / Bag:  Anne Klein

Today I am talking about four ways to transition your wardrobe into spring. It is still cold here in New York City and the weather can range from anywhere from 50 degrees to 70 degrees during the day and even colder at night. We are definitely checking the weather to make sure we dress appropriately. Below I am sharing four ways I am transitioning my wardrobe into spring.

  • Put away heavy winter clothes Woohoo! I do this first in my wardrobe transition. I make room for my spring pieces and to put them front and center, I put away all heavy jackets, sweaters and winter boots. In its place I bring forward my spring trench coat, light weight jackets and sweaters, and ballet flats.
  • Layers  Since the temperature can fluctuate I make sure to always bring a light weight jacket. I usually start my outfit with jeans and a tank, or short sleeve shirt, with a light weight sweater or long sleeve button down. Therefore, if its really cold I have layers plus my light weight jacket, and if the temperatures are high enough I can spend a few hours in my short sleeve shirt or light weight sweater.
  • Bright Colors  One thing I get excited about is getting to wear bright colors again. I start to put away my browns, greys, and blacks and I start to bring out my pinks, blues and whites. These spring colors are amazing in front of newly blossomed trees.
  • Spring Accessories  One of the best spring accessories are light weight spring scarves. This is a great way to keep warm when it is colder but the scarves usually come in great light colors or floral prints. Great way to add spring to your wardrobe. Also, don’t forget nothing says spring and summer is right around the corner without a great pair of sunnies. Colorful handbags are also a great way to add some spring. Swap your black bag with a light blush bag and instantly add spring to your look.

How are you transitioning your wardrobe into spring?

Hi guys! Sharing my Easter Saturday outfit (will have my Easter Sunday outfit on the blog later this week). I am so lucky because we get to celebrate Easter twice, Saturday with my husband’s family and Sunday with my family. That means Lucas gets twice the Easter egg hunts. I snapped a few pics in our back yard before we headed out to my sister-in-laws house. Lucas was napping so we went right in front of our Cherry Blossom tree and took a few photos. The lighting was a bit too bright because it was a gorgeous day, but tried to edit the photos as best I can. Good thing we are taking a photography class this Sunday! How much do you love Cherry Blossom trees? I am so lucky I get to look out into my yard and see this beautiful tree.

I am in love with this blouse from Boohoo (and under $40) it is so romantic, but also very delicate. If you have a toddler, be warned. The top though is the perfect spring top. It is light and airy, I wasn’t too chilly wearing it in 50 degrees. I had to try a matching romantic hair do to accompany the top. I am usually not too good at those types of hair dos, especially braids although I wish I was good at them, but I am getting better at “twisted” hair dos.

Who else is so excited about spring? What is your favorite part of spring?? Xoxo.
